Create a Jewish Legacy for Western Massachusetts

Organizations seeking to be accepted into this program should complete the application and submit with all attachments no later than December 2, 2009. Create a Jewish Legacy helps Jewish organizations in Western Massachusetts secure legacy gifts (bequests) to ensure continued stability long into the future by providing legacy teams from these organizations with training, marketing material, and cash incentives for achieving goals. In its first year of operation, Create a Jewish Legacy helped 13 Jewish organizations in Western Massachusetts raise 173 gifts from 143 families with a total estimated value of $5 million.

The program is the product of a successful collaboration of the Jewish Federations of Western Massachusetts and the Berkshires, the Jewish Endowment Foundation, and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.

A maximum of six organizations will be accepted in the current application period, ending December 2, 2009. Those accepted will be notified by December 30, 2009, and will be expected to send a legacy team to mandatory orientation and training on February 1, 2009 in the Springfield area.
